Davier Daniels, MS, is a Master’s-level counselor. Davier earned his Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Villanova University and his Bachelor's in Psychology at Eastern University. During his time at Villanova, he was able to complete an internship at Saint Joseph’s University, where he was given the opportunity to meet with students to uncover different underlying clinical issues. He was also a resource for student-athletes as they navigated balancing their education and sport.
Davier maintains a deep passion for being an advocate for breaking the stigma of mental health in sport. As a former athlete, Davier has had his own struggles with performance anxiety as a high school varsity basketball player. He has also had experience with another major issue in sport psychology, unexpected retirement. After being recruited to play Division III basketball, unfortunately Davier was left with the difficult choice of a full tuition scholarship or playing basketball. Davier decided to choose the former and continue his journey in sport in a different capacity. Davier also has a recorded single called “Without You.” He sings and leads worship at his local church, which gives him experience with performance in the arts.
Because performance anxiety is something he has had to work through in his own life, he believes he is better equipped to help others.
Davier believes in providing holistic care to the athlete and to meet them where they are. His counseling style includes a person centered approach, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Davier has an interest in working with all kinds of athletes at any and every level. The goal is to not only help the athlete become the best version of themselves, but to also help the individual grow and develop into the human being they were always meant to be.
